Institutional visit to see the world’s best rum
In the latest World Drinks awards in London last February, St Vincent Distillers Captain Bligh XO was awarded the World’s Best Rum for 2014. An independent panel of experts from all around the world judged this prestigious contest, and decided on the winner for the rum segment, after 3 intensive rounds of blind tastings. In the words of the expert panel, “this delicate rum shows a lovely balance of light wood, providing vanillas and a hint of cocoa. It is elegant and smooth with toffee, caramel flavours which linger on the finish.”
For this reason, Minister of Tourism Cecil Mackie, accompanied by other authorities and media professionals, visited SVG Distillers for a congratulatory ceremony and a tour of the distillery. Cecil Mackie said: “St. Vincent and the Grenadines are known for many things and because of this achievement of SVG Distillers, rum has been added to the list.” This is the perfect opportunity for visitors not only to come to SVG for a vacation but also for a destination, noting that the distillery has been added to the list of destinations.
